I’m cursed with dull hair and a shiny face, the hair is my own fault (too many years of peroxide and ghds). My face on the other hand has been a minefield for as long as I can remember and is the downside of early skin (upside being less wrinkles if my mum is anything to go by!).
I get maybe two or three days a month without some sort of breakout, so as you can guess I have to rely on my makeup. The other wonderful thing that comes with the breakouts is oiliness. We’re not talking a little bit of shine by lunch time here ladies and gents, we’re talking full on makeup sliding off my face within two hours..three tops!
So this little gem here, which is about to run out (booo!) is my saviour. Estee Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer. I won’t lie and say it works miracles – because it doesn’t – but it does help..a lot! I’ve tried so many different primers that have let me down (Benefit I’m looking at you!) but this one is different, it calms any redness and gives me at least another two or three hours before the makeup slide appears.
When it comes to the dull hair I’m a fuss bag, I like my hair big but not too big, I like my hair shiny but not too shiny and most of all I love my extensions!
My frizz ball of a mop is wavy, poofy and dull so the only saviour is big hair isn’t too much of a problem. The shiny but not too shiny issue is resolved with my little friend vo5 Smoothly Does It. At first I was lured in by the pretty packaging and the wide range (the hair sprays are amazing) but now this is my Saturday night staple. The heat protection is a big selling point for me as I’m awful for spotting a little bit that needs to be redone and making a mad rush to the ghds just as the taxi is pulling up. The shine is just right, we’re not talking magazine glossy, we’re talking normal glossy. There’s a fine line between glossiness and greasiness and this product ensures you stay on the right side!
What primer could you not live without? What hair product do you swear by? I’m on the hunt for my new favourite products and would love to hear!
